Operators drive real robot arms over the internet and get paid for completed sessions. This guide explains what the work actually looks like, how certification and earnings function, and what separates an operator whose sessions clients rebook from one whose data gets discarded.

What a remote robot operator actually does
You control a physical robot arm from your browser while watching its camera feeds. Most sessions serve AI training: the client needs many demonstrations of a manipulation task, such as picking an object and placing it somewhere, and you perform that task repeatedly, cleanly, with small variations in the scene. The recording of your control inputs and the cameras becomes the training data.
It is honest to describe this as focused, repetitive precision work. If steering a small arm through the same pick-and-place fifty times in a row while keeping every attempt smooth sounds satisfying, you will probably be good at it. If it sounds tedious, this is not your job. There is no hardware requirement on your side: you need a computer, a browser, attention, and a connection that passes the built-in speed test.
You are not an employee of the platform. Work depends on client demand and your certifications, sessions are paid at your hourly rate when completed, and you choose when to be available. Treat it as flexible freelance work, not a guaranteed salary.
Profile and certifications
Your profile carries your country, timezone, hourly rate, and a short bio. Run the speed test during onboarding; a connection that fails it will produce sessions that frustrate you and the client equally.
Before you can operate a robot type, you need a certification for it. Request one from Dashboard > Certifications; an admin reviews and approves or rejects the request. Once certified for a type, you can start sessions on any robot of that type. The SO-100 is the most common arm on the platform, so it is the natural first certification. If you have never touched a robot arm, the public demo at /live lets you feel the controls on a real one before you apply.
Find robots and run sessions
Available robots are listed in Dashboard > Sessions, filtered to types you are certified for. Pick one and start: the session goes ACTIVE, and the cockpit gives you the camera grid, the keyboard controls, and the chat with the client. Read the task description before you touch anything, and use the chat when the scene does not match it.
The platform monitors activity during the session. Long stretches without input trigger an inactivity warning, and continued silence stops the session automatically. After completion the client rates you on a 1 to 5 star scale; your rating affects how visible you are on the platform, and consistently well-rated operators get rebooked. The teleoperation page documents the cockpit itself: impulse-based keyboard control, camera views, the quality slider, and the emergency stop.
What quality means
Clients do not just buy your time, they buy the dataset your session produces. A policy trained on your demonstrations imitates everything about them, including hesitation, jitter, and detours. That makes calm, consistent teleoperation the core skill, and it is trainable.

Earnings and payouts
Earnings accumulate from completed sessions at your hourly rate and are visible in Dashboard > Earnings. Payouts run through Stripe Connect and require a minimum balance of 10.00 EUR.

From Dashboard > Earnings, start the Stripe Connect onboarding. You provide bank details and pass an identity verification. This is a one-time setup and payouts stay disabled until it is finished.
- 2Accumulate a balance
Completed sessions credit your balance at your hourly rate. Cancelled or auto-stopped idle time does not earn.
- 3Withdraw
Once your balance reaches 10.00 EUR, trigger a payout from Dashboard > Earnings. Payouts are processed by Stripe and typically arrive within 2 to 7 business days.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a real remote job?▾
It is real paid work, done fully remotely, but it is demand-driven freelance work rather than employment. Session volume depends on how many clients need your certified robot types, so income varies.
Do I need robotics experience to start?▾
No formal background is required. You need to pass certification for each robot type, which checks that you can operate it competently. Trying the public demo at /live first is the fastest way to find out whether the controls click for you.
How and when do I get paid?▾

What happens if my connection drops during a session?▾
The platform logs the interruption, and prolonged inactivity leads to a warning and then an automatic stop. Occasional drops happen to everyone; recurring ones hurt your ratings, so fix an unstable connection before taking long sessions.
